Alcyone is a visionary and illuminating star that holds a special place in my heart. Last year’s heliacal rise talismanic working marked the beginning of one of my most significant spirit pacts, which continues to profoundly influence my work. My life and work, while not without its challenges, have gone from strength to strength since. Creating these talismans again this year is a celebration of that pact and of the clarity and visionary thinking that Alcyone offers. I am excited to share them once again.
The Alcyone and Pleiades talismans were hand-carved in hard jeweler's wax and cast in tarnish-resistant sterling silver. These talismans were designed in the image of a lamp, in accordance with Agrippa and the MS Bodleian:
"Under the constellation of Pleiades, they made the image of a little Virgin, or the Figure of a Lamp; it’s reported to increase the light of the eyes, to assemble Spirits, to raise Winds, to reveal secret and hidden things."
These talismans were created and inspirited in ritual during the Heliacal Rise of Alcyone on June 19th, 2024, at 3:05 am in Olympia, Washington. While they follow the same design as last year’s, these talismans are slightly different, as they are set with an A-grade rose cut crystal quartz cabochon. At the back of the talisman is the sigil for The Pleiades (as found in the sources mentioned above), as well as a shell mati, with pieces of fennel for clear sight, meteorite to go up, and peridot to go down, set within the cavity beneath the mati. The significance of these elements is explained in the write-up from the 2023 release—a story of Zmaj serpents, meteorites, and an Emerald Palace deep within the earth. My ongoing work with Alcyone and the Pleiades has continued to reveal more since last year, but I plan to save these new insights for a longer-format release in the future.
Each talisman (size) hangs on a sterling silver chain, is presented in a leather-finish box, and comes with a booklet containing the write-up, as well as the Stellar Witchcraft rite created by Sasha Ravich. Sasha deeply understood this work and has crafted a Stellar Witchcraft rite unparalleled in it's poetic beauty. The rite will be shared in each booklet that accompanies the talismans.
