About the Venus Devotional Collection
The Tides of Tethys, Venus Devotional Collection is an ongoing collection of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition rings first conceived in 2026, during Venus’s transit through her watery exaltation of Pisces. All of these rings were mostly made during that transit with some finishing and setting later. I have decided to keep this collection going because making these rings for Her was a much needed heart-balm.
The difference between these and regular talismans is that these are devotional jewels, made in sympathy with her rather than to a specific elected astrological time. These are perfect for the astromages out there who want a power object but are not versed in the art of silversmithing, and want to do their own consecration at an elected time. Many hours, and in some cases days, of focus have been poured into the making of these to create power objects that may be worn during your own petitions and astrological workings with Her.
The gemstones I have used were chosen for their traditional associations with Venus, as well as their affinity with the sea, or for their beauty, for beauty itself belongs to Venus. Pearl and emerald are among Venus’s most well known stones, while beryl (named in Agrippa’s Three Books of Occult Philosophy among the gemstones belonging to Venus) appears in the collection as aquamarine and morganite, both of which are modern gemological varieties of beryl.
Pearls have a special place in this collection. In lapidary lore they are considered inherently talismanic, born from the union of sea and heaven as living creatures open themselves toward the world above to receive the dew of heaven into the shell. From this celestial dew, the pearl is said to be engendered and to grow within the body of the mussel.
Pearls are of the nature of Venus, and it is from Her that they receive their virtues in the very act of their generation. The Picatrix itself instructs that when petitioning Venus one should wear a ring set with a pearl, affirming pearl as a gemstone proper to her rites as well as her adornment. To wear a pearl is therefore to carry that which is already inclined toward her, that which has received her virtue at the moment of its becoming.
Throughout this collection, Venus is honoured through her marine, shell-born, floral, and luminous associations, each jewel is slow-made and sculpted by hand in meditation on Her beauty.
All gemstones used are of high gem quality and have been hand-selected by me at the Tucson Gem Show.
