Alphecca Talisman: The Hieros Gamos Ring

The Hieros Gamos Rings are inspired by the initiatory rings thought to have been worn by initiates of the Dionysian Mysteries. Engraved gemstone rings of carnelian and amethyst formed part of this well-attested tradition, while funerary inscriptions preserve cult titles including nymphe ("bride") and drakaina ("dragoness"), suggesting an initiatory tradition centred upon sacred union with the god. This is explored and explained further in the write-up. 

Each ring has been hand-carved in jeweller's wax and cast in sterling silver. Set within each is a 10 mm A-grade amethyst cabochon engraved on its reverse with the image and sigil of Alphecca. Beneath the stone lies home-grown rosemary, Alphecca's herb, harvested during a Moon–Alphecca conjunction and sealed within the ring.

Commenced during the heliacal rise of Alphecca in 2023, every ring has been worked on and ritually offered to throughout successive elected conjunctions of the Moon and Alphecca before its release.

Each talisman comes with a hand-made printed booklet exploring the mythology of Ariadne, the Dionysian Mysteries, and the Alphecca working.
